The number of companies working and producing projects on cyber security, artificial intelligence, acquisition of advanced digital skills, big data storage and processing is increasing day by day both in the world and in our country. The Digital Europe Grant Program is developed for supporting the projects of the companies working in this field of digital technologies.
The DIGITAL Program is the newest grant program funded by the European Commission, developed to shape and support the digital transformation of European society and economy. This program, which has a very high budget, will be in effect between 2021-2027.
With the DIGITAL Program, investments in the following five areas will be supported basically..
- Ensuring the widespread use of digital technologies throughout the economy and society,
- supercomputing,
- artificial intelligence (AI),
- cyber security, and
- acquisition of advanced digital skills.
It is planned to support the implementation of high-impact projects in these five areas in the DIGITAL program.
Examples of high-impact projects include:
-Computing and data processing capacities (HPC and Quantum)
-European low-power microprocessor initiative
-Artificial intelligence
-Cyber security (Quantum communication infrastructure (EuroQCI))
-5G and beyond (Smart, high-speed cross-border connection networks)
-European Blockchain Services Infrastructure
-Linking international and national environmental data to combat climate change
-Digital Innovation Hubs (to enable SMEs to benefit from digital transformation)
There are calls to be opened under the title of artificial intelligence before the end of 2023. Therefore, in this article, let’s look at the AI calls under five main headings in a little more detail.
AI in the DIGITAL Europe Programme
The DIGITAL Europe programme will open up the use of AI by businesses and public administrations.
As data fuels the development of AI, DIGITAL also aims to set up true European data space and facilitate safe access to and storage of large datasets and trustworthy and energy-efficient cloud infrastructure.
DIGITAL will strengthen and support existing artificial intelligence testing and experimentation facilities in areas such as health and manufacturing in the Member States and encourage their cooperation.
The European AI Strategy aims at making the EU a world-class hub for AI and ensuring that AI is human-centric and trustworthy.
Access to high quality data is an essential factor in building high performance, robust AI systems.
The EU aims to build trustworthy artificial intelligence that puts people first.
