Horizon Europe

Horizon Europe is the largest R&D grant financing programme of Europe. The programme is structured in three main pillars: excellent science, global challenges and industrial competitiveness, and innovative Europe. Horizon Europe is a grant funding programme that helps researchers and world-class innovative entrepreneurs to develop and spread their ideas. It also supports breakthrough innovations and helps create new services and markets.

One of the main innovations introduced by the European Commission in the Horizon Europe programme is the concept of mission. The European Commission has identified the following five main mission aimed at finding solutions to the great challenges facing the world:

  • Cancer,
  • Adaptation to climate change,
  • Healthy oceans, seas, coastal & inland waters,
  • Climate-neutral & smart cities,
  • Soil health & food.

Horizon Europe supports scientific studies in all branches, primarily research projects developed in five main mission areas, with its grant funding programmes such as MSCA, ERC, EIC.

All kinds of organizations, companies and individual researchers, both private and public, can benefit from grant funds under Horizon Europe, provided that they conduct scientific research or develop innovative products and services.

All public and private companies, SMEs, universities, research centers, public institutions, individual researchers, university students, academics, NGOs and others.

As each project is different, specific support is provided for each project. Based on our experience, tools and methodology, our primary approach is to help the applicant gather the right inputs to prepare an initial draft proposal that meets the requirements and expectations of the European Commission. We then help them develop this draft to the best version based on our long experience in submitting and evaluating proposals.

MSCA (Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions) Fellowships

MSCA is a fellowship programme developed to support the EU’s worldwide development of doctoral and postdoctoral training and joint research projects. MSCA is the most prestigious scholarship programme under Horizon Europe. MSCA helps build Europe’s research and innovation capacity by investing in the long-term careers of excellent researchers.

MSCA aims to both have a constructive effect and create a common synergy on universities, research centers and non-academic institutions through joint research projects. The goal of the fellowship programme is to strengthen the cooperation between academia and real sector (such as companies, NGOs, hospitals and public institutions) in terms of sectoral experience transfer, research training, career development and knowledge transfer.

Within the scope of the MSCA, there are 5 main types of fellowship programmes. You can apply for the most suitable one of them.

  • Doctoral Networks (MSCA-DN) Fellowships
  • Postdoctoral Fellowships (MSCA-PF)
  • Staff Excanges Fellowships (MSCA-SE)
  • MSCA COFUND Fellowships
  • MSCA and Citizens

ERC (European Research Council)

Founded in 2007, the ERC supports breakthrough research projects in all fields of science to support European leadership. Grants are awarded only to outstanding principal investigators based on scientific excellence. ERC grant funds, which are part of the Horizon Europe programme under the responsibility of the European Commission, accept applications for their programmes under 4 main headings.

  • ERC Starting Grant for researchers with 2-7 years of experience since completion of PhD (up to a maximum of EUR 1,5 million for a period of 5 years)
  • ERC Consolidator Grant for researchers with 7-12 years of experience since completion of PhD
(up to a maximum of EUR 2 million for a period of 5 years)
  • ERC Advanced Grant for principal investigators
(up to a maximum of EUR 2,5 million for a period of 5 years)
  • ERC Synergy Grant for scientific research by a group of 2 to max 4 principal investigators.
(up to a maximum of EUR 10 million for a period of 6 years)

EIC (European Innovation Council)

The overall aim of the EIC is to identify, develop and implement high-risk innovations of all types, with a particular focus on groundbreaking, market-creating and profound technology innovations. This grant goals to support the rapid scaling of innovative technologies and companies (mostly start-ups and SMEs) at EU and international level along the way from ideas to market.

The EIC grant includes three funding schemes: the EIC Pathfinder, EIC Transition and EIC Accelerator. EIC funds support the bright ideas and international growth of world-class innovators, entrepreneurs, start-ups and researchers through these programmes.
